Mars2030: If They Say We Can’t, We Prove Them Wrong!

“Rail travel at high speed is not possible because passengers, unable to breathe, would die of asphyxia.”

Dr. Dionysus Lardner, 183O

“No flying machine will ever fly from New York to Paris…[because] no known motor can run at the requisite speed for four days without stopping.”

Orville Wright, c. 19O7

“There is no hope for the fanciful idea of reaching the Moon because of insurmountable barriers to escaping the earth’s gravity.”

Dr. F. R. Moulton, University of Chicago astronomer, 1932

This is a two sided 18×14″ poster promoting NASA as an organization to teens and tweens, focusing on the Mars mission in 2030.

I wanted to break away from the red, white, and blue that is traditionally associated with NASA, so I opted for a CMYK color palette, and a screen-printed, pop-art style.

The message is simple: If they say we can’t, we prove them wrong! The infographic side of this poster showcases quotes from naysayers throughout history that have been continually proven wrong by human innovation.
